Our Story
How it all started
The Simple Idea
Two medical students, Ali Khalid and Ameer Khamise, set out to fix a problem they knew firsthand: meaningful research opportunities are too hard to find.
Idea to Concept
Months of conversations with students, clinicians, and supervisors sharpened the idea into a clear concept—mapping the research journey end to end and defining how matchmaking could open it up.
The First Prototype
A working proof-of-concept connected a handful of students with regional oncology researchers—validating that matchmaking solved a real bottleneck.
AI-Driven Matchmaking
A new recommendation engine matched researchers with the right collaborators, projects, and cohorts—turning months of networking into minutes.
Closed Beta
Invited researchers and trainees put the platform through its paces, shaping the project workflows, role structures, and matching logic around how teams actually work.
From MVP to Full Platform
RCX grew beyond matchmaking into a complete research platform—adding project workspaces, surveys, and institution tools that span the journey from inception to publication.
